Frazier placed on DL with hamstring strain

The Pirates on Monday placed utility man Adam Frazier on the 10-day disabled list due to a left hamstring strain and recalled reliever Dovydas Neverauskas from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Adam Timothy Frazier...Is a 2010 graduate of Oconee County High School in Watkinsville, GA, where he was a four-year starter and honorable mention Louisville Slugger All-American...Was also a first-team all-state and all-region selection after leading his team to a 29-5 finish with a .524 batting average during his senior year...Set a Georgia state record with 53 career doubles during high school career...Earned all-state and all-region honors as a junior after hitting .510...Was also a three-time letter winner in basketball, where he set the school scoring record for freshmen with a 29-point game...Hit .352 (107-for-304) with 20 doubles, seven triples, 38 RBI and 62 runs in 71 games as a junior at Mississippi State University in 2013...Was a pre-season All American and semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award Shorstop-of-the-Year Award in 2013...Was also named to the 2013 SEC All-Defensive team as a shortstop...Went 61 straight at bats at one point without striking out until doing so in the final game of the 2013 College World Series...Finished the 2013 season by leading the NCAA with 107 hits; also a Mississippi State single-season record (the previous record was 103 hits held by Brian Wiese in 1998)...Was the 2012 SEC Baseball Tournament MVP while also being named to the 2012 NCAA Tallahassee Region All-Tournament team...Ranked third in the SEC with a .371 batting average in 2012...Was signed by Pirates scout Darren Mazeroski...Participated in the team's annual caravan and PirateFest event this past December.
