Meadows initially injured his hamstring in Spring Training and then suffered a setback during rehab. In all, the injury cost him half of his first full professional season.
Meadows, ranked No. 37 on MLBPipeline.com's Top 100 Prospects list, was the ninth overall pick of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft. He spent most of last season in the Gulf Coast League before earning a late promotion to short-season Jamestown. In 48 games between the two levels, he hit .316/.424/.554 with seven home runs and three stolen bases.
Meadows is eventually expected to progress to Class A West Virginia this summer. There he would join catcher Reese McGuire, the Pirates' other first round pick in last year's Draft.
