ST. LOUIS -- Garrett Jones hit a delayed homer for his second blow of the season on Sunday, being credited with leaving Busch Stadium upon video review of what had originally been ruled a ball in play that resulted in a triple.
With two outs in the seventh inning, Jones yanked Fernando Salas' first pitch to him to straightaway right field, the ball landing at the convergence of the wall and an advertising sign.
First-base umpire Laz Diaz, who had hustled down the line to make a call, spread his arms to indicate a ball in play while Jones raced into third base.
Manager Clint Hurdle's call for a review led to a quick reversal of the original call, crediting Jones with the home run that extended the Pirates' lead to 4-0 over the Cardinals.
