Pirates Homestand Highlights Friday, April 12- Sunday, April 21, 2013

The Pirates return from a six-game west coast road trip to welcome the Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals and Atlanta Braves to PNC Park for a 10-game homestand. This homestand will be highlighted by the first Zambelli Fireworks night of the season on Saturday, April 13, Andrew McCutchen bobblehead night on Saturday, April 20 and two Sunday Kids Days at PNC Park on April 14 and 21.

Friday, April 12, 2013-Pirates vs. Cincinnati Reds (7:05 p.m.)

  • Free Shirt Friday: The Pirates popular Free Shirt Friday is back in 2013 as all fans, with paid admission, will receive an A.J. Burnett designed tee compliments of the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau.

  • Third Annual Pirates 5K: The third annual Pirates Charities 5K Home Run presented by ServiceLink will take place this morning beginning at 8 a.m. The event will take place on Pittsburgh's North Shore, starting on Federal Street and finishing inside PNC Park. The race is open to fans of all ages and abilities with the top finishers from each category being recognized in a pre-game on-field ceremony before tonight's game. Registration will take place starting at 6:30 a.m. the morning of the event.
  • Zambelli Fireworks Night: Fans are encouraged to stay in their seats immediately following the game and enjoy an amazing fireworks display presented by Zambelli Fireworks International, courtesy of RE/MAX.
  • Scratch and Win: Everyone is a winner with the special Scratch 'n Win presented by Eat 'n Park. All fans will receive a scratch-off ticket upon entering PNC Park with an opportunity to win one of several great prizes.

  • Raise It: Today the first 25,000 fans, with paid admission, will receive a Raise the Jolly Roger Pirates flag presented by Allegheny Sports Medicine.
  • Kids Day: Come down early and join the fun as the #1 Cochran Family Fun Zone will be open on Federal Street from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lined up outside PNC Park will be inflatable rides, face painting, information about the Bucaroos Kids Club and more.
  • Kids Run the Bases: Kids attending today's game are invited to stick around after to run the bases on the field at PNC Park.

Monday, April 15, 2013-Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals (7:05 p.m.)

  • Jackie Robinson Day: All players will be wearing number 42 jerseys in honor of Jackie Robinson during tonight's game. This marks the 66th anniversary of the day when baseball's color barrier was broken by the Dodgers' infielder. One number 42 jersey from each club will be autographed by all of its players and coaches and auctioned on MLB.com with proceeds benefitting the Jackie Robinson Foundation. The Pirates will also recognize the winners of the 2013 Pittsburgh Pirates Jackie Robinson Art, Essay and Poetry contest with an on-field pregame ceremony.

Tuesday, April 16, 2013- Pirates vs. St. Louis Cardinals (7:05 p.m.)

  • Pups in the Park: Fans can bring their pooch to the park as the Pirates and Rachel Ray Nutrish present the first of eight Pup Nights at PNC Park. Each ticket package (1 person & 1 dog) costs just $25 with additional human tickets available for $25 each.   • VIP Night: Pirates and Pirates Charities Chairman Bob Nutting will host a VIP (Very Important Pirate) Party for The Children's Institute, The Day School's Graduating Class. The group will be special guests of Mr. Nutting in the PNC Park Owner's Suite. Mr. Nutting will host a VIP Party each month during the season in order to provide deserving children with a night at the ballpark in true VIP-style - complete with a private meet-and-greet with Pirates players and coaches, a Pirates replica jersey and VIP goodie bag for each child. There will also be an opportunity to participate in a pregame ceremony, a seat to watch the game in the Owner's Suite, great menu items provided by Levy Restaurants, entertainment and much more.
  • Guests of Cutch: Andrew McCutchen is hosting a meet-and-greet with "Cutch's Crew for Pirates Charities" Pittsburgh Marathon Team. Andrew will host the group during batting practice and his guests will watch the game from a luxury suite. All money raised from "Cutch's Crew for Pirates Charities" will be donated to Pirates Charities.

  • Career and Internship Fair: The Pirates 2013 Career and Internship Fair will take place today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Pittsburgh Baseball Club at PNC Park. Meet and speak with representatives from professional sports teams, sports management programs and more. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to sit in on a Speaker Series with question and answer sessions with individuals representing various departments within the Pittsburgh Pirates organization.   • Autism Awareness Day: The Pirates have teamed up with Autism Speaks for today's Autism Awareness Day. Tickets can be purchased at pirates.com/autismspeaks with a portion of each ticket donated to Autism Speaks. This is the first in the 2013 Awareness Series in which the Pirates will partner with local nonprofit service agencies throughout the greater Pittsburgh area to host special events to raise funds and awareness for their specific cause.   • Eco-friendly Rally Towel: All kids 14 and younger, with paid admission, will receive a Pirates "Let's Go Bucs. Let's Go Green" eco-friendly rally towel courtesy of Waste Management. Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffles
New for the 2013 season are the Pirates Charities 50/50 Raffles. The 50/50 Raffles will take place during each Pirates home game throughout the season. Raffle ticket prices are three (3) tickets for $5, 10 tickets for $10 and 40 tickets for $20 with all proceeds benefiting Pirates Charities. Raffle ticket sales close after the last out in the sixth inning. The winning number will be drawn announced in the 8th inning and the winner will receive 50 percent of the total pot. Winning numbers will also be posted on www.pirates.com/5050raffle within three business days.

Take The Fort to School
Beginning March 31, parents can enter online only for a chance to have Pirates catcher Michael McKenry visit their child's school this school year. The "Take The Fort to School" program presented by Trib Total Media, is open to all residents in the greater Pittsburgh area. Parents are asked to enter for their children, and anyone submitting an entry must be at least 18 years of age. Wins for Kids
During the 2013 season, Pirates Charities will again partner with manager Clint Hurdle, his wife Karla and ROOT SPORTS to present the Wins for Kids fundraising campaign. The campaign encourages fans to donate a dollar amount for every Pirates win during the season or make a one-time donation to the program. All funds raised will benefit Pirates Charities and the Children's Institute of Pittsburgh's Prader-Willi Syndrome Program. 2013 Bucaroos Kids Club

Where's the Parrot?
The Pirate Parrot is active in and around the community as an ambassador of the Pirates organization. Below are a few of the upcoming events he will be attending in the Greater Pittsburgh Area.

  • On Saturday, April 20, the Pirate Parrot will appear at the West Penn Allegheny Health System Big Blue Quest Walk from 8 to 9 a.m. in Allison Park and the Hampton Township Athletic Association Opening Day from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • On Saturday, April 27, the Pirate Parrot will appear at the Franklin Regional Athletic Association Opening Day from 10 to 11a.m. and the Burrell Fastpitch Opening Day from noon to 1 p.m.
  • On Sunday, April 28, the Pirate Parrot will appear at the RBI Little League Preseason Tournament Championship from 2 to 3 p.m.

Dynamic Pricing Section
New for 2013, the Pirates have expanded their dynamic pricing system to include both the Bleacher Reserve and Upper Bleacher Reserve sections of PNC Park. Tickets for the 2,400 seats, located in left field, will be placed on sale 10-days prior to each home game. The initial ticket price will then be adjusted- both lower and higher- in real time, based on several factors. As of April 11, this homestand features $10 tickets in the Upper Bleacher Reserved seats for the weekday series vs. the Cardinals.
