Bucs sign player development deal with Jamestown
PITTSBURGH -- The Pirates on Tuesday formally announced their two-year player development agreement with Jamestown to serve as the organization's affiliate in the Class A New York-Penn League.
State College had filled that role for the last six seasons, but the Spikes recently signed a two-year development contract with the Cardinals.
Jamestown becomes a third-time affiliate of the Pirates. Previously, the 1939 Jamestown Jaguars of the Pennsylvania-Ontario-New York (PONY) League and the 1957 Jamestown Falcons of the old eight-team NY-Penn League had arrangements with the Bucs.
