The 27-year-old Slocum spent the majority of the 2008 season with Cleveland's Triple-A affiliate. He pitched in 30 games (11 starts) and went 3-7 with a 4.85 ERA for Buffalo. Slocum also made a brief appearance with the Indians, allowing six runs in two total innings of relief.
Slocum, a second-round Draft pick in 2002, has made a total of 10 Major League appearances (two starts). He allowed 11 runs in 17 2/3 innings with the Indians in 2006.
Silva, 23, spent last season in Atlanta's farm system, where the switch-hitting outfielder combined to hit .205 with 11 doubles, three homers and 10 RBIs in 53 games. The Braves had signed Silva as a non-drafted free agent in 2001.
