Pirates avoid arbitration with reliever Resop
The Pirates and right-hander Chris Resop avoided salary arbitration and agreed to a one-year contract Friday night. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Resop, 29, went 5-4 with a 4.39 ERA in 76 games with the Bucs last season, his first full year in Pittsburgh. The Pirates claimed him off waivers in August of 2010 after he was released by the Braves.
Resop has posted a 4.81 ERA in 156 games during a six-year career that began with the Marlins.
