Pirates Charities, FedEx and other local organizations to deliver needed supplies to Puerto Rico

Pirates to host public supply drive at PNC Park on Monday and Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced today that Pirates Charities and Pirates players, coaches and staff are working with FedEx to collect and deliver needed relief supplies to Puerto Rico in the wake of the devastation following Hurricane Maria. Pirates Charities is being supported in this historic effort by many Pirates partners and community leaders.

The Pirates and its partners will host a Puerto Rico disaster relief supply drive on Monday, October 2 and Tuesday, October 3, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day in the cul-de-sac outside PNC Park on Mazeroski Way. Once collected, Pirates Charities and FedEx will charter a plane to deliver the needed supplies to the island.

Pirates Charities Chairman Bob Nutting, along with Pirates players, coaches and front office staff will fly to the island to distribute collected goods to those in need.

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, the Pirates are asking fans to bring new and unopened non-perishable items to help assist the people of Puerto Rico, including:

  • Bottled water
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Baby formula, diapers and wipes
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Garbage bags
  • Pet food
  • Batteries of all sizes

Pirates players, coaches and alumni will be on hand at different times throughout the two days to accept the donations. All fans whom donate items will receive a Pirates Roberto Clemente jersey tee shirt.
