Standing-room-only tickets cost $8 and can be purchased at www.pirates.com, at the PNC Park box office, or by calling 1-800-Buy-Bucs. The Pirates are planning on making more than 2,000 such tickets available.
The home opener is slated to begin at 1:35 p.m. ET on April 7, with Tom Gorzelanny earning the nod in the first of the team's 81 games in Pittsburgh this season.
The Pirates will return home after beginning the season on the road for the third straight season. The team begins the regular season with a three-game set in Atlana followed by a three-game series in Miami vs. the Marlins.
Pirates' single-game tickets continue to be available to the general public for all 2008 regular-season games, except for the home opener and the team's three-game series against the Yankees in June. Both full-season and partial-season ticket plans remain available.
Additional information on season-ticket packages can also be found at www.pirates.com.
