Reds at the plate:
Juan Castro's two-run home run to left field in the eighth inning tied the game at 8. Norris Hopper's RBI single to right field scored Jerry Gil with the game-winner. Josh Hamilton was 3-for-3 with three singles and an RBI.
Pirates at the plate:
In his first game this spring playing left field, Jason Bay was 1-for-3 with an RBI single in the fourth inning. Chad Aguila hit an RBI single in the third inning and scored when Jose Bautista hit a two-run double. Three Reds errors contributed to a four-run Pirates eighth, including Nyjer Morgan's two-run single. A third run scored on two errors.
Reds on the mound:
Starter Eric Milton retired his first five batters but struggled after that. Overall, Milton gave up four runs, three earned, and seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts. Left-handers Mike Stanton and Bobby Livingston each pitched a scoreless inning with one strikeout. Todd Coffey struck out the side in the seventh inning. Brian Meadows earned the save with a perfect ninth inning.
Pirates on the mound:
Starting pitcher Tom Gorzelanny faced nine hitters in the first inning but he retired his final seven batters in the game. Gorzelanny's line was four earned runs on six hits without a walk and four strikeouts. Marty McLeary gave up one earned run and three hits with three strikeouts over two innings of relief.

Reds 8-2; Pirates 3-8-1.
The Reds host the Blue Jays on 1:05 p.m. ET Monday at Ed Smith Stadium. The Pirates return to Bradenton for a 1:05 p.m. ET meeting with the Indians.
